London PHV licensing
London private-hire drivers need the appropriate licensing through Transport for London (TfL). TfL's guidance covers matters such as driving licence history, right to work, suitability checks and medical requirements.
Vehicle requirements
London PHV vehicles are subject to licensing, age/condition and emissions rules. The exact requirements depend on when the vehicle was first licensed and its characteristics. A vehicle being advertised as “PHV” does not automatically mean it is eligible for every platform category.
Uber documentation
Uber's current UK guidance lists driver documents including a DVLA plastic driving licence, private-hire driving licence, DVLA check code, bank statement and profile photo. Vehicle documents include insurance, vehicle inspection where required, PHV licence and logbook. London-specific product rules apply.
Bolt fleet documentation
Bolt's current fleet guidance lists fleet-owner documentation and says fleet drivers and vehicles need valid, up-to-date documentation, including the private-hire driver licence, PHV vehicle licence and insurance, with additional documents depending on location.
